Well tbh, the daft town restrictions have caused this situation really.

I don't really play with randoms these days, and if there are 4 already online and in a town when I get there, I'll maybe go gather some items and hang around to see if a space opens up for a while but waiting around in gate just isn't the same as the old hunting tavern setup so in the past I've tended to just logg out after a while.

They really effed up the social/community aspect to this game somewhat with wiispeak :(

I guess they've proved all the Playstation owning MH fans right when we were all disappointed that they changed their minds about using a next gen console for this one :(

It really is a shame though because despite this obvious flaw (and the lack of high end graphics, and poor loading between areas lol) it's an awesome core game and you get a real sense of teamwork when working with competent people, there's no better feeling than dual hammering something in the head or being in a team with longswords who are thoughtful of other players.

Yes and no...

The Japanese version does not have the 4 player restrictions to towns. Look at the amount of benches in the Tavern, the game was originally designed and released to have bigger Tavern lobby areas but because of wiispeak limitations we are stuck with the current setup.

Of course, had the game come out on a real console ( ;) ) we'd have comms AND a decent tavern area. Ho-Hum... with any luck we'll get Frontier on the Xbox 360 so there is still hope I guess

Yeah i'd have to wait until it comes out on the PS3 as I no longer even own a 360.

But yeah, I know the lobbies were designed to hold more, but in the PAL version the bottom line is they don't and that's majorly put a dampner on things, that's why I was so eager to get an IRC channel together, but that didn't work as the majority of people simply stopped playing it and out of the few of us that were left there was only us two that are willing to use IRC.

The only way to keep interest in this now I reckon would be to have a set night of the week where we can all try to get on together, playing with the general public is painstaking slow, you get people who are just plain bad at the game, others who will quit if there is a couple of deaths rather than keep at it, then a vast majority of players who are selfish and slow things up by stopping the other players doing their jobs...like all the longsword users who attack the head, making it very hard to KO a monster even with a couple of hammer users.

If I get online tonight it's gonna be on Socom, been neglecting it since MH came out.

Topknot and myself are planning on trying to get on a bit over the weekend during the day though.

If you're interested in getting together we can blast through some stuff, the plan was hunt for rathian rubies which is pretty fast xp too.

Anyway best bet is to use the Hunters Tavern link on the home page and just sit in there idle, that's what i'll be doing when i've got time to play so I can see if anyone else is about without pishing about loading the game up.

Should maybe try this out. I had intended the 'Events' section to be used for something like that in the first place.

Think Weds nights, or sat/sun afternoons are best for me right now.

I've got a toddler and given the choice between playing games or playing with him i'm afraid he trumps you lot, so daytime isn't the best time for me.

Wednesday evenings sounds alright though, tuesdays are possibly a better night for me but any night really after 8pm I can normally get on.
