Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) at Eurogamer Expo: Leeds

E-mail Print PDF

Got some hands on time with the English demo of Monster Hunter Tri at the Eurogamer Expo in Leeds. The MH area was pretty quiet in the morning when we had a go but was busier in the afternoon when we went back for another go.

Took on a Boruborosu/Barroth in two player but the demo was limited to 10 minutes of play time. Got him limping but just couldn't finish the job. Was odd playing on the classic controller after so long using the wiimote/nunchuck on my import.

Pictures are of other people playing. None of us I'm afraid :)

MH Fee's pulled? Plus More WiiSpeak Rumours

E-mail Print PDF

From the mouth of Chris Kramer (senior spokesman for Capcom USA) at TGS 2009

"It's something that we're looking into at the moment and there are a few factors to consider. Firstly, Monster Hunter isn't as popular in the West, so it might put people off. Secondly, Japan doesn't have Friend Codes, so Capcom run all the servers and the monthly fee is essentially to pay for those costs."

As expected, we may not have to pay monthly fee's for the western release of MH. Makes sense, none of the previous titles had fees outside of Japan and if anything is going to put off potential new Hunters it would have been the monthly fee.

In other news, Ryozo Tsjmoto mentioned WiiSpeak again in an interview with G4;

We're looking into right now whether it's technically possible or not. And so if it is, maybe we'll make an announcement. If it isn't, you know, if it realistically can't be done, then I'm sorry we may have to leave it out. But we're looking into it."

Nothing definite but this is the second time WiiSpeak has been mentioned so who knows, maybe we will get lucky and finally see voice chat. It's never been make-or-break for me that MH has voice chat to be honest. I certainly wouldn't complain if we got it though...

Competition Time!

E-mail Print PDF

The Kut-Ku statue finally arrived and kicks off the first of hopefully many Wyvernhunt competitions.

For a chance to win, please register on the site (only registered members are eligible to win) and details on how to win this statue will follow shortly.

I'm thinking some kind of naked Ku speed run only allowing a set range of weapons easily accessible to all.

Watch this space for details!

Design a Weapon for Monster Hunter 3 (Tri)!!

E-mail Print PDF

Over at Capcom Unity they are giving members the chance to design and name a weapon and the winning design may end up in the western release of Monster Hunter!

Very cool.. may even have a crack at designing my own custom Hammer for submission.

For full details, rules, and entry, head over to Capcom Unity and check it out... good luck to you all!

Capcom Bans Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) Cheaters Till The Year 9999!

E-mail Print PDF

Capcom are cracking down on cheaters playing Monster Hunter 3 online with modified data.

The text reads "Because you used modified data to connect online, you're now banned. The ban will be lifted at 22:49 on 12/12/9999." and a warning stating further violations will result in a perma ban. Good to see Capcom are taking a zero tolerance stance on this.

  • Topknot : aye changed the wii settings. Deffo an improvement. I could barely read the text on screen but a lot sharper now in comparison
  • The Reverend : To be honest i think the fact i'm using a 42" tv makes the picture slightly worse, i imagine a small screen would be better.
  • The Reverend : I bought some cheap ones from amazon and to be honest the picture quality does improve, but not by a massive leap. Just a little sharper and the colours a lot better. Don't forget to go into your Wii settings and turn the screen output to EDTV/HDTV that way you get a slight improvement as well.
  • Topknot : Just bought component cables.. hope it clears up some of this damn blur I get
  • Topknot : Nothing from my Tokyo trip :) But I do still have a boxed Kut-Ku statue set aside for a site competition when/if we get a few more members
  • The Reverend : I didn't end up with the Rath's head either, you get Lagiacrus head with the ultimate hunter pack lol. Sat on my computer at work. Nice haul from Japan Topknot!! Any going to be competition prizes...? LOL
  • Topknot : oh yeah, also got a random badge too which turned out to be a Barroth badge :)
